7 Gulval Cross (a.k.a: 7 The Cross),
TR18 3BN, UK
From Gulval Cottages;
Walk along School Lane into the heart of Gulval, known as 'Churchtown', to see the medieval church, and to enjoy a meal of local seasonal produce at the highly-recommended Coldstreamer Inn. Beyond the church, a twenty minute stroll along the road will bring you to the stunning Tremenheere sculpture garden and its gorgeous cafe.
The town of Penzance is just a five minute drive away, or twenty minutes by foot. With direct rail services from all over the country, it is a perfect centre for walking the coastal path, water sports, golf or horse riding.. Penzance harbour is home to more restaurants and cafes, to fishing boats, and to The Scillonian, which will carry you to the Scilly Isles. In the summer months, Penzance also offers the UK's largest seawater lido, located between the promenade and the harbour. It provides a fabulous venue for swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing by the poolside. A shallow children's pool provides an ideal environment for youngsters to enjoy the water safely.
There is a bus which runs through the village from Penzance to St Ives regularly. Alternatively, many people choose to drive to St Erth station and take the coastal train into St Ives. That train offers beautiful views and avoids the problems of parking in St Ives in the height of summer. St Ives is a bustling seaside town that has been home to famous artists, and now to The Tate, and which boasts three golden surf-kissed beaches.
